Mount Sinai Program Identifies and Resolves Health-Harming Legal Needs for Patients
Housing instability, lack of public benefits, and threats to personal safety heighten the risk to an individual’s health. Through a Healthfirst Foundation grant, Mount Sinai Healthcare System and its legal entities are piloting a new care management program that incorporates tools to identify legal needs during medical appointments and provides legal resources to address issues that could lead to negative health implications.
Dominican Medical & Dental Society Mission Trip
The Healthfirst Foundation supports the Dominican Medical & Dental Society’s annual humanitarian medical trip to the Dominican Republic to provide high-quality, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care to thousands of patients in underserved communities who lack the means to access medical and dental care. With our support, volunteer physicians, nurses, and dentists bring their expertise and equipment into the region to provide vision, pediatric, gynecological, and dental care, as well as mental-health screenings. The experience of working in communities abroad is leveraged to improve the quality of care offered to immigrant populations in New York City.
